Do you have room in your heart and your home for a Golden Oldie?

One of the most heart-wrenching things about rescue work is dealing with the seniors. These dogs usually come to us because some unexpected life-changing event has occurred in their former family’s life. Because they are in their twilight years, most prospective families don’t even consider them when choosing among the dogs available for adoption. Often they linger in the program for a considerable time waiting on a forever home.

Have you considered the advantages in adopting a Golden Oldie? These guys are great for someone looking for a mature, less active companion. They are happy with an ambling pace on a walk and more often than not would prefer to be curled up at your feet or better yet, next to you on the couch!

We have several of these gentle souls available. Here’s your opportunity to give a dog the best years of his life while at the same time receiving all the joy and love that only a Golden can give. Do you have room in your heart and your home for a Golden Oldie?

Here are our “special seniors”…(dogs over 9 years old)…

Maddie (female, 10 years, OKC)

My what I thought to be my “forever family” left me at the vet’s office with promises of travels abroad. The sticker shock for the airfare trumped any love or responsibility that they felt for me as they asked the clinic staff to lay me down for a “long sleep”. Thank goodness for the caring staff who convinced my owners to choose life & ultimately choose rescue. While I’m not 100% golden, my loving & forgiving nature most certainly is. I’m currently in boarding and would most assuredly appreciate a foster home as the volunteers here search out a family worthy of adopting a sweetie like me.
